One of my favorite places to buy sake here in the Netherlands is at the website sake.nl. And no, I am not paid to say this! That website has a lot of variety in their products, and the service is always top notch. So I was very happy to hear a while back that they where opening an actual physical store. Officially opening on September 1st, they have already opened their doors every Friday since the beginning of Summer. So my friend Sanne and I decided to take a look at the start of August.
Located in the small town of Oldebroek, it would not be the first place I would think of to find a store that specializes in sake. I don’t think this would be a problem though. Sake fans like myself would gladly drive to a store to get some lovely drinks. The weather was great, so Sanne and I hopped into my car decided to take a roadtrip to Oldebroek.
During that time, the store was still under construction of course. But entering the store, I couldn’t help get excited. It’s quite rare to find sake here in the Netherlands, so being in a place with so many bottles, of course I would become and leave very happy. It was great to talk about sake, she how things were going, see all sorts of sake goodies and of course, get some sake!

These bottles are all recent arrivals to their store, and all from brewers I haven’t tried before. Back at Sanne’s house, we immediately opened up the Keiryu Nama sake. Fresh, fruity, full of flavor! Before we knew it, half the bottle was empty. The other sake will be opened soon, after I recovered from surgery.
I am very happy with the fact this store will officially open soon, so it anyone who likes sake, please take a trip to Ma Sake in Oldebroek!
