While it's finally starting to look like Summer here in the Netherlands, it might be a bit strange to try a sake with the word 'snow' in it's name. But one this nice hot day, I was in the mood for something fruity. While looking in my refrigerator, the choice fell on this bottle: Saiya Shuzou's Yuki no Bosha Junmai Ginjo from Akita prefecture.
Pouring it into the glas, the sake has a very nice lemony color. This sake's nose has a nice presence. It becomes immediately clear that this is a fruity style sake.
While taking my first sip, this flavor profile really suits my taste. This sake feels quite delicate, yet the flavors pack quite the punch. Melon, Apple, a bit of tropical fruits as well gives it a very fresh sensation, and afterwards this sake ends with a little peppery finish. This sake also has a little mineral-like quality.
Looking around online I found out that this Brewer has won several awards, and it shows to be honest. This sake is definitely one I will get again in the future. This sake is made with 2 different types of rice, Yamada Nishiki and Akita Komachi rice. It peaked my interest while looking online for bottles I hadn't tried before, and thankfully I was not disappointed. I have another bottle of this brewer at home, but I will open that one another time. Definitely recommend if you like Ginjo style sake!
