This sake peaked my interest because it's made with a rice variety that I did not know about. After doing some research online, I came to know that this rice variety is a mix of Gohyakumangoku and Miyama-nishiki rice. Two very well know varieties, but also, this rice can be very hard to work with apparently. It cracks easily during production. All the more reason to try it out.
The sake is quite clear. Taking a sniff, it has a mellow fruity flavor. Taking a sip, it starts out a bit fruity, but transforms in a more traditional Honjozo type sake. With flavors of yoghurt, rice, grain, but starting out with a bit of melon. It's quite smooth, and easy to drink.
Overall, not a bad sake. Solid choice, would probably serve this with some light appetizers.
