A very nice Nigori sake from the Kikusui brewery in Nagano, not to be confused with the one in Niigata. This sake has a nice consistancy of sake lees, some bigger, some smaller. When shaking up the bottles, it gives of a nice creamy and milky consistancy.
This is a sake that is quite easy to drink. Taking your first sip, you will immediately notice that this sake is very gentle yet rich, easy to drink and very sweet (the SMV of this sake is -25). I think most people would like this. It has a little bit of acidity to balance the sweetness. As a honjozo sake, this has flavors of yoghurt, milk and rice of course. Mostly the yoghurt is present, a flavor I tend to like in general.
This sake has won awards at the International Wine Challenge, and it's not hard to imagine why. I will definitely get a new bottle soon!
