Since it's my birthday today, I wanted to open up a sake made from my favorite rice type. Thankfully, I recently bought this bottle from a small online shop, so it was a good time to open it up.
To me this has a very distinctive Miyama-nishiki smell. It's quite present, with nice fruity aroma's. Of course it could be my bias towards this rice type. I really like this taste of this sake. Quite present, clean, and a little burn of the alcohol. With flavors of melon, pear and strawberry, if paired very well with my savory dinner. It tends to stick around after swallowing, which I also like (personally I am not a big fan of the Kirei-finish).
I would gladly serve this to any guests I receive at home. I also got the Junmai Daiginjo made from Miyama-nishiki from the same brewery, and looking forward to opening it!
