Last Summer I tried the Daiginjo version of this sake, and now, while in Nagano, I found the Junmai Ginjo version. I am very positive about the Daiginjo version, so I wonder how this one will compare.
First, let's compare stats. Besides the polishing rate there is one other factor element that differs: The SMV. While the Daiginjo version has +1, meaning leaning towards a bit of acidity, this one is -2, leaning more towards a sweet sake. Immediately it's obvious that this is a fruity sake, when taking a sniff from my cup. The melon and the pear stand out! First thing I notice while taking a sip is that (of course) the alcohol is very present. Combine that with high umami as well and that sweetsness, and you have quite the mouth full! The fruity aromas persist in the flavors as well, with some melon, pear, lemon, green apple, apricot and also a hit of that bubblegum flavor.
Great sake overall! Love this line from this brewery, and hope to try some other ones as well.
