This is a sake I always have available in my fridge. It's probably my favorite futsu-shu sake. A sake that everyone loves, is pretty cheap and you are able to serve at every occasion.
When I recently bought a carton of Gin Pack, I was surprised about the sticker that was present on the carton. It said: Surprisingly fruity, please compare it with a Daiginjo sake. I was a bold statement, so let's test this! I poured a glass and first noticed a clear sake. Taking a sniff, I did get hints of melon and apple. Fruity, even though it's a futsu-shu.
This sake tastes fruity as well, with melon and apple flavors most present. But, comparing it to a good Daiginjo, this sake lacks depth. This is not a bad thing though. This sake is really afforable, even here in the Netherlands. People looking for a simple but fruity sake would appreciate this sake. I think the bold claim of the sticker isn't really true, but this is still a really solid sake!
Solid choice, just have it in your fridge!
